Inter Miami CF donned special SebastianStrong branded training tops with the phrase “For Sebastian” today, honoring Sebastian Ortiz, who lost his battle with Sarcoma in December 2016.
“Today we hosted Oscar Ortiz who is the founder of the SebastianStrong foundation, which was started in memory of his son Sebastian. Unfortunately, in 2016 Sebastian lost his fight with cancer. So today the players wore 'For Sebastian' on the front of their shirts in his memory," said Chris Allan, Inter Miami CF’s VP of Community Engagement.
The tops will be signed by the players and sold online with all proceeds going to the IMCF Foundation and a donation from there to SebastianStrong.
“We as a Club are really proud to be participating in Kick Childhood Cancer Awareness Month for our first season," said Allan. "We are focused on the community and really hope to have measurable impact and help with awareness and raising funds for pediatric cancer research through MLS WORKS.”
Inter Miami will continue active participation on MLS's Kick Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, including a number of activations in this Sunday's match against Nashville SC.
“As part of Kick Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Inter Miami is partnering with Baptist Health. Unfortunately, we can’t go to the hospitals to show our support for the kids and the medical workers saving lives, so we’re going to try to bring them to us by having 50 cutouts of the kids being treated, their families, and the medical professionals saving lives and we’re going to feature them at Inter Miami CF Stadium. The players are going to adopt them throughout training throughout this week.”
