Inter Miami CF Launches Primeblue Jersey Made With Parley Ocean Plastic

Plastic pollution is a significant issue for the world, especially with regards to the ocean. The issue must be at the forefront of mind at all times to not only ensure continued awareness of, but also to remember that it is up to us to be part of the solution. With this in mind, Inter Miami CF today launched its adidas Primeblue jersey made with Parley Ocean Plastic in collaboration with Major League Soccer ahead of World Oceans Day on June 8.

“Inter Miami has chosen to launch our Primeblue jersey made with Parley Ocean Plastic modeled underwater by a freediver posing as a protector of the ocean in a picture-perfect clear ocean setting,” said Mike Ridley, Inter Miami CF SVP of Brand & Marketing. “Accompanying the image is a message reminding people that the oceans can be this clear of plastic, but it is up to us to be the difference and to be the protectors of the ocean.”

Fans will have an opportunity to purchase adidas Primeblue jerseys beginning today, May 20, by visiting here. The team will debut the jersey on Saturday, May 29, when Inter Miami hosts D.C. United at 8 p.m. ET at DRV PNK Stadium. Fans attending the May 29 match vs. D.C. United will also be able to purchase the Primeblue jersey made with Parley Ocean Plastic while supplies last. The first 50 fans to buy the jersey in the Inter Miami Team Store at DRV PNK Stadium will receive a complimentary adidas reusable water bottle with their purchase.

The players' match-worn jerseys from the game will be auctioned to raise funds for the Inter Miami CF Foundation’s sustainability efforts.

Primeblue is a high-performance yarn made with 50% Parley Ocean Plastic—upcycled plastic waste intercepted on shorelines and coastal areas, preventing it from polluting our oceans. MLS and adidas Primeblue kits are one of the many ways the league raises awareness for environmental issues and helps to create sustainable communities as part of MLS WORKS’ year-long Greener Goals initiative.

Behind the Scenes of Underwater Shoot

Inter Miami tapped Jason Washington, an underwater photographer otherwise known as “Cayman Jason'' to create real images of the jersey shot underwater in the Cayman Islands in celebration of the release. Cayman Jason is an underwater photographer who is driven by the preservation of the awe-inspiring beauty of the ocean. He is based in Grand Cayman where, in addition to his photography work, he tirelessly promotes ocean conservation and runs a scuba dive operation. Washington and Inter Miami worked with model Coral Tomascik to film the jersey underwater, highlighting the crystal-clear landscape symbolizing the cleaner, brighter future we can achieve when focusing on recycled materials and sustainability.

Over recent years, Washington has become an Instagram hit and a focal point of underwater photography by pursuing one of its most challenging disciplines – freediving. Both he and model Coral Tomascik have created catalogues of exhilarating images almost exclusively underwater by holding their breaths for minutes at a time. The majority of their work is against the backdrop of the shockingly clear blue waters of Grand Cayman. Tomascik is a master of making the inconceivable look easy. Her adventures with Washington to date have found her deeper than 100 feet below the surface to get their shots. Regarding such feats, she said with a smile, “I love the silence and stillness of being there, it's one of the best feelings in the world.”
