For head coach Phil Neville, Guediri’s development throughout preseason was a joy to witness.

“The first day at the Club I went to watch the USL team train…He just caught my eye straight away.”

“From the first day to what we see now, the growth, the improvement, the development in him [has impressed us]. It was a special moment when we gave him his MLS contract…Those moments are probably the highlights as coaches.”

For Guediri, the season with the Club’s USL League One affiliate in Fort Lauderdale was crucial for his development, as he made the switch from midfield to left back and began to thrive.

“It was massive, not only was I back home but I was playing in a new position as well. Working with the coaching staff with Fort Lauderdale last year helped me out so much. They were honestly a big part of the reason I was able to make the jump to here.”

According to Guediri, his ascent to the First Team alongside four other former Fort Lauderdale CF players – Edison Azcona, Dylan Castanheira, Ian Fray and Felipe Valencia – can serve as inspiration to other players within the Club’s system that there is a realistic path to one day represent Inter Miami.

“If one of us can do it, I think it shows that anyone can do it. As long as the kids from the Academy and USL see that there is a chance, I think it gives them something to work for…It makes it that much easier to work hard and put in the effort for the end goal.”

Guediri also took the opportunity to reflect on the moment he stepped onto the field for Inter Miami on Sunday, getting the opportunity to play in front of family, friends and fans.

“It was awesome, I really couldn’t ask for a better home crowd to debut in front of. It felt unbelievable.”
