Figal also chimed in on what will be a key takeaway for his team to clinch a victory in Tennessee this weekend.
“For us, it’s going to be important to be able to hurt the rival offensively. The backline, what we’ll do is we’ll try to keep a clean sheet so they can be calm, and be sure that you know if they score anytime then we can get the job done.”
The Inter Miami defender also noted that, as the season progresses, the roster has become more acclimated with each other – something that was a challenge in the team’s inaugural season.
“The truth is, when we play more together, and the team understands each other more, the better it is, right? I believe last season, it was a new year, our inaugural season; it was an unusual year with the pandemic. It was hard for us. This year, things have changed. Many players understand the league now, they’ve familiarized themselves with it. Now we’ve come back and reinforcements have been able to come in, now the boys know each other better. The more time we spend together the better it has been, and I believe it’s noticeable in the games, that there’s another [type of] connection and that’s important.”
Nashville is currently coming off of a draw in its match against CF Montréal, and is currently seventh place in the Eastern Conference with two points. Meanwhile, Inter Miami is a few positions ahead in the table, currently placed fifth with three points thus far after defeating Philadelphia.
“We watched video today of Nashville and how they play. We looked at their defense and their attack and I think we are going to face a really good team. They’re very physical, they’re good at set pieces. In terms of their strikers, they’re very good. Cádiz is fast, strong. He doesn’t lose many balls. So, we’re going to have to be focused for the 90 minutes plus stoppage. We’re going to aim to win.”
