The Inter Miami CF Academy presented by Baptist Health continues to produce memorable moments as its teams compete in the 2021 MLS NEXT spring season. Over the last two weeks, our standout young talents have again netted a number of stunning goals.
A standout solo effort began when Perkovich received a pass just inside his own half, swiftly turned and beat a defender with a dribble. The winger continued his run to the edge of the box, cut onto his right foot and struck a shot into the top right corner of the net.
A well-worked passage of play saw possession cycled out to the right wing, before a driven, low cross was sent in to Bryan Destin in the box. The young striker controlled the pacey pass, redirecting a touch past his defender, and delivered a powerful strike on the half volley and into the roof of the net.
Crisp passing saw the team work the ball out of the back and all the way up field in just a few swift movements, resulting in a cross from the right wing that found Nessim Jena waiting at the far post. Jena calmly swung a right foot at the arriving pass, slotting the first-time shot past the keeper.
Pownall's goal was a showcase of efficiency; he received a pass on the edge of the box on the right-hand side, burst past a defender with one explosive touch, and powerfully launched a shot across goal and into the top left corner of the net.
While Estrada was the name on the scoresheet for this goal thanks to a strong finish, it was a true team goal; the team swiftly cycled possession from the left wing to the right half-space with sharp passes and movement, eventually slipping in a through ball to Estrada in the box. The striker made no mistake, calmly collecting the pass and firing a shot on the swivel across goal and into the bottom left corner of the net.
Ellis played the part of a clinical striker for his goal, making a run to the edge of the box, receiving a low cross with a backheel touch to set himself up to turn and face the defender. Ellis then took one swift touch past the defender to his right and curled a powerful shot into the top right corner of the net for a goal.
Once again teamwork was the star of the show as an Inter Miami Academy team netted a memorable goal. The move started with relentless work to win and possess the ball in midfield, followed by one swift pass to a player with his back to goal, who then flicked a backheel through ball into the box for Dyllan Bustamante to meet. The winger took one touch to his left and chipped a shot over the onrushing keeper for a goal.
The U-15's showcased their swift counterattacking ability for a goal in this game; a good press won possession for the team in their own half, triggering quick runs in the other direction. One pass later, Bryan Destin was slipped in behind the defense and calmly curled a right-footed shot past the keeper and into the bottom right corner of the net.
Bustamante found himself on the scoresheet again for the U-14's, this time using his head to get the job done; a free kick from the left corner of the box was sent in to the far post, beating the keeper before being headed back across by a defender. Bustamante, however, was waiting to meet the ball, sending a diving header into the back of the net.
The move creating the goal began with a savvy interception of a goal kick, deflecting the ball forward to Jason Lobo; the youngster met the ball and flicked a touch to his right, past a defender and into the box, and used his next touch to calmly bypass another onrushing defender by cutting to his left. From there, all that was left for Lobo was to beat the keeper with a shot, which he did with ease to score his goal.
