The Inter Miami CF Academy presented by Baptist Health continues to challenge MLS NEXT opponents, competing in the 2021 spring season. In week four of the campaign, the Club's different age groups each made an impression with more standout goals.
Destin's work began without the ball, carefully timing a run between two defenders and receiving a pass at the top of the box with only the onrushing keeper to beat. The young forward processed the play at lightspeed, taking a touch to round the keeper before calmly his shot into the back of the net from a tight angle.
This time it was Eduardo Rojas getting on the board for the U-15s after some nifty work from his teammate Miles Perkovich on the right wing. Perkovich started the play by winning the ball off a defender and playing a pass to his teammate with one touch, receiving a return pass and continuing his run down the wing behind the defense. The winger entered the box, cut back on to his left foot, wriggled between two defenders and got a powerful shot off in a tight space that drew a diving save from the keeper. Thankfully, Eduardo Rojas smelled danger and was ready to pounce at the back post, slotting a shot home off of the rebound.
The U-15s, and Miles Perkovich, continued their impressive attacking display, this time with a goal by midfielder Matthew Perez. Perkovich again made a run down the right wing from the halfway line, successfully dribbling past his defender at pace and continuing all the way into the box. The winger struck a low, driven shot across goal that once again drew a difficult save. After a bit of a scramble in the box, Perez burst forward to collect possession on the edge of the box and fire a strike with his second touch, beating the defense and the keeper, hitting the far post and finding the back of the net.
The U-12s also got on the board with impressive goals, including this one from Jude Royes. He received a pass inside his own half in the center circle, took a few touches towards goal and fired a long range effort into the top corner for a goal.
Dearmin also had a powerful strike from outside of the box of his own for the U-12s. The move began with good pressing from a teammate that resulted in Dearmin collecting possession at the top of the box, taking a touch between two defenders, turning and shooting; Dearmin's strike glided past the keeper and found the bottom corner of the net for another impressive goal.
